My Last Post for 2009

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. My next post will be
in Md Janurary, Im off to the beach!!

Part of this blog is about sport and the media, and
that is what the last post of the year will be focused
on.

2010 will be the biggest sporting year in New Zealand's
history.

The Winter Olympics, The Commenwealth Games, Field Hockey
world champs, Test series against Australia, Basketball
World Champs and of course the Football World Cup.

I hae a plea to our media, I do understand 2011 will
be wall to wall a certain sport, there will be at least
a massive eight month buildup, but please please please
in 2010 show our other sports people respect.

You don't have to mention a certain sport in your stories
that have nothing to do with that sport. It's insulting,
so please please do your best to make 2010 possible, we
don't need to hear the R world in stories about Football,
Basketball, Field Hockey, Track and Field.

Craig Stanaway, Telfer, Saville, Joesph, Duncan, I ask
kindly to do something that goes against your nature.

But it needs to be done.

Fingers are crossed.

Anyway my sporting Predictions for 2010.

Cardinals to win the Superbowl.
NewZealand to win a game at the world Cup.
New Zealand to make the Sweet 16 at Basketball world champs.
New Zealand to win an Olympic medal.
New Zealand to win the field Hockey world champs.
New Zealand to do well at the Commenwealth Games.

Here's Hoping!!! and goodbye until mid Janurary.

Can Cricket Umpires be Bought?

The man in the white hat is Billy Bowden a cricket umpire.

He is seen here hugging Steve Waugh from a few years ago.

He is regarded as one of the best Umpires in the world, mainly
by the Australian team.

After every series the hosts rate the umpires and the Australians
always gives Billy Bowden an A rating.

Thus he always gets invited back to umpire Aussies home games.

So there lies the question, can an umpire been bought or swayed
by the home team??

If a Umpire likes plying his trade in Australia he would
want to keep his hosts happy, wouldn't he?

If an Umpire makes a handful of mistakes that always goes
in the home team favour, then that would raise serious
questions, wouldn't it Billy?

But with any lack of hard evidence, nothing can be done,
although it is fair to raise the question.

Just ask the West Indies!

Hey Telfer, get the chip off your shoulder

Brendan Telfer once again showed what a petty wee man he is.

In a discussion about who should get team of the year
at the sports awards, his producer suggested the
New Zealand men's Ice Hockey team.

He brushed off his producer, laughed and threatened to
cut him off.

Telfer has a huge chip on this shoulder about anything
that he deems to come out of the USA.

He is anti American sport, Im guessing he sees these sports
as a threat to his Netball and Rugtby Union.

It's a disgrace that successes in basketball and now
Ice Hockey are laughed at by pathetic small minded Journos.

He really needs to open the other eye.

But that anit going to happen.

Was there any doubt?

Garth Brooks, your fans are proud of you.

The music industry is proud of you.

Only someone with the genuis of Garth, could take a glitzy
showbiz town like Vegas and give it class.

In a small room in fron of only 1500 fans, it was just Garth
and his guitar, he played his hits, he played his songs, he
played the songs that he grew up from Haggard to Segar and
he took requests.

I wish I was there, in the next five years I have to go, if
even his harshest critics are bowled over, then these Garth
events will be worth the airfare.

Thank you to Garth for what you have given to music, and thank
you to the critics who judged Garth by his music.

One of music's greatest genuis is back and we can all be
thankful for that.

The Halberg Awards

Surly it must be the All Whites. It has to be doesn't it?

In less than a month's time the Nominees for the New Zealand
sport awards, (The Halbergs) will be announced.

In the team of the year Category, surly it has to The New Zealand
Football team (known as the "All Whites" for the colour of
their Uniform) for making its first world cup in 28 years.

I cant see any other sporting team getting close to them.

The other Nods will probably be The New Zealand mens
Basketball team (The Tall Blacks) for beating Australia
and the New Zealand men's Ice Hockey team for beating
Australia for the first time.

I sincerely hope the judging panel don't show bias against
these sports, and I hope they dont go with the usual
Netball or Rugby, the integrity of their profession
is at stake.

So when the nominations are announced in a few weeks time
and then the award show in February, lets hope a bunch of
proud footballers end up the winners, because they deserve it.

The Chances of anything coming from Mars

Are a million to one they say.

Scientists still can't make out what this thing is.

The Russians say it's a rocket Launch that went wrong.

Geeks are saying it's E.T.

The rest of the planet has no idea?

I think it's pretty cool myself, no matter what it is, it
just seemed to appear out of nowhere and was only visible
in Norway.

Nothing ever seen in space has looked liked this.

So what could it be???

A new solar system forming???

It would be kinda cool if more of these started to appear.

Fingers are crossed.

Garth Brooks about to do something Special

This weekend even the toughest Garth Brooks critics
will be turned around.

Because this weekend it starts.

In a small historical theater in Vegas, while the rest of the city
is putting on glitzy expensive shows laced with special effects,
Garth Brooks will be sitting on a stool with his guitar, no back
up band, just Garth and his music.

There will be no bells and whistles, just music. For years the
critics have wrongly suggested that Garth is just an arena rock
act who can only sell seats because he swings on a rope ladder,
pours water over people and sets the stage on fire.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Those who have seen him do a acoustic show have
been memorized by his performance, and this weekend
Garth Brooks will perform his magic in Vegas in front
of only 1500 people, just Garth and his music the way
it should be.

It will take just one performance and then Garth's place in
History will be cemented.

He will have the respected of his peers and the last of
his critics will be silenced.

He may be retired but The Dance is only beginning.

Bye Oh Bye O'Brian

New Zealand cricketer Iain O'Brian has shocked his
team by announcing his retirement. The reason was
he wants to start a family with his wife, and since
his wife lives in England that would be quite hard
to do with O'Brian touring all the time.

This is a huge lost for the New Zealand team, apart
from Vettori he was our most professional player in
his attitude and in his training.

He will be hard to replace.

All the best to him and his family.

Ricky's New Movie is a Laugh and That's No Lie

The Invention of Lying is a must see movie.

It was written and directed and by Ricky Gervais also.

Basically it's set in a world where only one man has the
ability to lie.

It's a sweet romantic comedy with a heartfelt message, who's
funniest scene is actually near the start of the movie.

I don't want to spoil anything, but one of the other highlights
of the movie, is a short cameo by two actors who fans of Ricky
Gervais's work will recognize.

Some religious folks might be offended by the shot taken at Religion,
but the message in the movie is certainly something religious people
can take to heart.

Eight out of Ten!!!
